The Best Western in Cherokee is a motel I have stayed in over the years. It has always been a pleasant place to stay and staff have always been friendly and helpful. The building itself does show age but is well kept and since my stay 2 years ago have done some remodeling both inside and outside. At my last stay I suggested they needed to do some remodeling of the bathrooms for the handicap rooms.
Hello! We have been staying at the La Grande Hacienda in Cherokee a couple of times a year for about 10 years and have had many wonderful experiences here. In the last 2 years, 3 times we have stayed here the pool was not in working order, and when we pulled in for thanksgiving this year, we found that the pool was closed. The pool is a large draw for us as we have kids, we would love to continue to stay at La Grande in years to come, but may have to look for other places with a pool that is consistently open.
I spent the previous day working in the area and needed to stay the night here to continue the next day. This motel is primarily booked by construction workers or equal laborers, me being one of them. This motel has been kept very nicely clean in my experience, with very helpful staff. Also I found the rates to be very reasonable. This is a five star motel in the categories it was designed for! Just use common sense when booking it for leisure purposes and think of it as two to three star motel. Happy shopping!
The only negatives I could think of were that the pool was not opened and apparently hasn't been functional for quite some time. If we would have had our children with us on this trip that would have been a huge disappointment, but luckily, we did not have them with us this time. The smoke detector in our room chirped the whole first night. But we called them the next morning and they came and fixed it within a few minutes of the call. Overall I would recommend this hotel. But if you are traveling with kids who want to swim, I would call and confirm if you can actually use their pool first.
My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Hacienda while in Cherokee for a family function. The staff was friendly. The hotel seemed clean. The price was very reasonable and fair. Our room had a newer bathroom sink and flooring. The widow to the room actually opened which was nice because the weather was beautiful. The bed was comfortable.
The only reason for the 2 star rating is that the handicap accessible rooms are not totally handicapped accessible. If you are in a wheelchair or power chair the bathrooms are very difficult to negotiate. There is very little room to move and transferring to the tub or toilet can be difficult. The motel is a good place to stay, staff is great but just a warning for any disabled using wheelchair or power chairs it's not easy. The rest of the room is great and easy to get around in.
The service was great, very helpful and kind. The hotel had nice upgrades with new carpet, bathroom, clean linens. I've already recommended it to my family staying in Cherokee.
